What to expect

Visiting us in person is the best way to get a taste of the student experience at dBs; from gaining new perspectives and techniques for your own work to seeing everything that makes us tick as an institution.

On Saturday 23rd March, 2024 we're hosting our latest iteration of 'dBs Sessions', an informal day of free workshops led by our amazing tutors in our world-class facilities.

Running from 11am - 3pm, there are several interactive and creative workshops you'll get involved with, led by our industry-experienced tutors.

Hardware Modular Synthesis workshop

Join our resident modular synth experts Phin Head (Stochastic Instruments) and Matt Ward (Kinesotronic) for a beginner's workshop on creating music using hardware modular synth units. You'll learn the basics of how modular works and get hands-on with some of our favourite units, including Phin's very own SIG (Stochastic Inspiration Generator) module.

Recording workshop

Led by dBs tutor and award-winning engineer, Pete Day, this session will see you in our flagship Neve suite. Utilising the power of the Neve Genesys mixing console, you'll get hands-on with recording and developing your understanding microphone placement, capturing performance and mixing using a desk.

Outside of these activities, you will also have the opportunity to:

  • Take a guided tour
  • Listen to detailed course overviews from course leaders
  • Receive application and accommodation guidance
  • Meet our student support team
