What did you do before joining dBs?
"I worked in Nottingham teaching music production degrees, while also producing my own music, DJing regularly and hosting club nights."
Why did you first get into electronic music?
"I was always creative when I was younger but mainly focussed on visual artforms. In my teenage years I became interested in electronic music and later DJing. I just seemed to prefer electronic music to a lot of the other music I was exposed to at the time. I started looking into how it was made, got a copy of Cubase and I just caught the bug!"
Any special areas of interest?
"Using my own found sounds in my music, hardware instruments and collecting records."
What do you love most about what you do?
"Being around so many creative people (both students and staff)."
Tell us about your proudest career moment?
"Playing in Room 1 at Fabric was a highlight of my DJ career and a pretty surreal experience having been on that dancefloor many times previously. I also have fond memories of playing extended sets a Club Der Visionaire in Berlin."
What do you get up to outside of your role at dBs?
"I have two children that keep me quite busy. I enjoy spending time with them, especially at our allotment. I also enjoy cooking and travelling to new places."
Tell us something our students may not know about you?
"My favourite flavour of crisps is paprika."
