With a career spanning three decades, Pete has countless accolades as a chart-topping mix engineer for the likes of Kylie Minogue, Stock Aitken Waterman and more.

What did you do before joining dBs?

"Before I became a teacher I had a long career in the music industry as a mix engineer, recording engineer and record producer. I worked with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Rick Astley, Robson & Jerome, Bananarama, Stock Aitken Waterman and other top tier artists. I’ve been credited on thirteen top ten hits, including six number ones. I have also engineered theme tunes for television shows such as WWE wrestling, under the instruction of Simon Cowell."

Why did you first get into music production?

"I started at PWE Studios in February 1987 working as a Tape Operator where I honed my skills using analogue systems. During that time, I had the opportunity to edit recordings from Kylie’s first tour of Japan and within three years of starting I became Stock Aitken and Waterman’s chief engineer. My career just carried on developing after that."

Any special areas of interest?

"My special areas of interest are mixing, recording and producing."

What do you love most about what you do?

"I love to teach and (hopefully) pass on life experience, enthusiasm and skills."

Tell us about your proudest career moment.

"I would say that there are two. The first is my remix of Sybil’s ‘Walk On By’ as this was more about what I could do and not the artist or producer that I was recording. The second is Lisa Scott-Lee going to No.6 in the charts with a track that I had co-written."

What do you get up to outside of teaching?

"I spend time with my family going on walks and holidays etc. I also spend time nurturing my love for Japanese gardens."

Tell us something our students may not know about you.

"I recorded the Power Rangers! Also I used to ride a BMX and skateboard."
