In celebration of New Century's 60th anniversary, we're thrilled to announce the New Century Manchester Scholarship. This unique opportunity offers one deserving student from the Greater Manchester Area, their course fees funded on our BSc (Hons) Live Sound degree at our Manchester campus, starting September 2024.

About the Course

Embark on a three-year Live Sound journey with dBs Institute and New Century that will equip you with:

In-depth knowledge and practical application of designing, building, and operating professional sound systems.

About New Century

New Century Hall, first built in 1963 as a state-of-the-art dance hall, was reborn in 2022 as a three-floor social destination. Today, it houses a live event venue, a ground-floor bar and food hall, and the dBs Institute.

Application Process

To apply for the scholarship, submit an application statement that showcases your passion for live sound and your future career aspirations in the industry. Make your statement original, engaging, and provide a clear insight into your motivation for pursuing a career in live sound.

Selection Process

Our scholarship selection committee will review all application statements and create a shortlist of the most compelling and deserving applicants. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview or asked to provide additional information as part of the final selection process.

Eligibility

To qualify for the New Century Manchester Scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following Eligibility Criteria:

  • Meet the Institute's admissions criteria for the BSc (Hons) Live Sound, as outlined on the Institute's website.
  • Have received, accepted, and confirmed your acceptance for the BSc (Hons) Live Sound Degree at the dBs Institute's Manchester Campus.
  • Reside in the Greater Manchester area, specifically within a POLAR 4 area, Quintile 1 or 2. You can check your eligibility via the OfS Postcode Checker.
  • Your course commencement date should fall between 1st September 2024 and 30th June 2025.
  • You should not have accepted any other discount, bursary, or scholarship to begin and/or complete your course, with the exception of the dBs Hardship Fund, which is permissible alongside the New Century Scholarship.
  • You should not have accepted a place to study a similar or comparable course with another course provider.
