Luke Guest
Student Recruitment Officer

What did you do before joining dBs?
Before joining dBs, I worked for the charity Catch22. I had an amazing time working on a project in partnership with TikTok, which focused on helping young people find their way into creative-based careers. It was a lot of fun, but while I love the wider creative industry, I feel truly at home in the music ecosystem.
Why did you decide to become a Student Recruitment Officer?
I was drawn to becoming a Student Recruitment Officer because I find a great deal of purpose in helping young people understand just how vast the music industry is. There truly is a role for everyone.
I get the privilege of inspiring students to pursue realistic and achievable careers in music. There's a bit of magic in showing people that you can be a music therapist, an instrument maker, or an acoustic engineer—not just a performer.
What do you love most about what you do?
My specific area of interest is the business behind the music. Having worked in label management, music PR, brand partnerships, and events, I get super excited when I'm working behind the scenes.
Tell us about your proudest career moment
I have a couple of proud moments that stand out!
What do you get up to outside of your role at dBs?
Outside of work, I'm a massive fan of narrative-driven games. Just like getting stuck into a good book, I love diving deep into the intricate storylines of games like Metal Gear, Death Stranding, and The Last of Us.
I'm also a huge Star Wars fan (I'm pretty sure I was named after Skywalker himself!). And, of course, I have a three-year-old Golden Retriever who joins me on various adventures!
Tell us something our students may not know about you?
I took my Star Wars fandom to the next level: I had a real-life R2-D2 as the ring bearer for my wedding!
