Georgia Winstanley
Student Recruitment Manager

What did you do before joining dBs?
Before joining dBs, I worked in the outreach team at another university, where I would go out on the road, meeting students and planning all of our large-scale exhibitions.
Why did you decide to become a Student Recruitment Manager?
I was excited at the prospect of working for a specialist institute that focuses on music, something it does really well. I love working in student recruitment and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
Any special areas of interest?
I'm a trained vocalist, so I'm really excited to be able to start recruiting some wonderful singers for our new courses!
What do you love most about what you do?
I love meeting a student who didn't know that studying music full-time is a possibility for them. Teaching people about the importance of studying at a specialist institute is really fulfilling, and it's so exciting to be part of their journeys.
Tell us about your proudest career moment
Luckily, I've had loads! I'm proud every time I meet a student on the road at an event, then I see them again at an open day and then on their first day of uni. On a personal note, I got to perform at a LGBTQIIA+ nightclub in Brighton that's really special to me, and it was wonderful- I take pride in being an ally to the community.
What do you get up to outside of your role at dBs?
I'm a professional tribute act and singer. I'm part-time at dBs, so I spent the other half of my time travelling around the UK performing at festivals, clubs and holiday parks. I'm just about to start a tour of theatre shows and I'm very excited!
Tell us something our students may not know about you?
Even though I'm all about the vocals now, I studied Musical Theatre at university so I'm a big theatre geek at heart.
